I am currently a PhD student in Quantitative Biology at the University of Texas at Arlington, where I work with Dr. Qing Tang to investigate the mechanisms underlying antifolate resistance in Listeria monocytogenes, an intracellular foodborne pathogen associated with severe pregnancy-related complications. Prior to this, I earned a Master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. It was during my undergraduate training that I first became deeply interested in the intersection of foodborne pathogens, host immunity, and antibiotic resistance.
